- Travel arrangements – AMN brings peace of mind and convenience to clients and their families by making all air and ground travel arrangements for patients, their families and medical escorts. AMN’s experience and familiarity with airport, airline procedures and specific patient needs provides comfortable and safe travel for the patient.
- Medical Evaluation and Verification – Before travel, AMN conducts a thorough evaluation of the patient’s needs in order to provide the proper assistance during flight. AMN reviews physician’s orders and reports, verifies that there is an adequate supply of all of the patient’s medications, and develops an understanding of any special needs that are required before, during and after travel. Patients and their families have the assurance that all of their medical needs, safety and comfort will be addressed.
- Basic Assistance – Whether a client simply needs an escort to handle a wheelchair or assist them to the restroom, AMN medical staff is there to ensure the patient’s comfort and security. Our staff is sensitive to the needs of each of our clients. From frail elderly patients to medically needy patients flying internationally, AMN provides caring and compassionate service and medical assistance and monitoring.
- In-flight Monitoring – AMN’s trained medical staff is familiar with the physiological effects of air travel and a patient’s medical status, giving assurance to patients and family members that all medical needs are met during travel. Often, family members believe that they can adequately escort the patient themselves, but are not aware of the potentially adverse physical reactions to flight, including dehydration, nausea, or hypoxia. Our staff is trained in altitude physiology and how flight affects a patient. The family member does not have the expertise nor the equipment to monitor and treat their loved one. Depending upon the patient’s need, AMN will ensure that any special equipment (e.g. supplemental oxygen) is readily available. Our escorts continually assess a patient’s vital signs during flight, change dressings, administer medications and ensure that all physician orders are followed.
- Hospital to Hospital – Someone hospitalized overseas or far from home may wish to complete their treatment in a hospital closer to home. AMN escorts ease the stress and difficulties of travel and provide constant in-flight assessment and assistance. At the destination, AMN escorts insure the infrastructure is in place to transport a client who may require monitoring or who has special needs. When required, AMN provides the receiving facility with all medical records and documents.
